Enter May....

First, I have to say, this is a blast!  I have met so many incredible people, talented people, enthusiastic people;  people with amazing skills and ideas and plans.  It is also a great pleasure to be introducing people to new crafts and skills and ideas.  Every night I go to sleep thinking about classes and projects.  Every morning I wake up eager to get started.

We have A LOT going on in the next week.  The month of May starts out with a bang.  Upcycle those t-shirts into yarn on Friday night.  The wonderful Katie Mangan of SavedbyKate will walk you through the process of reclaiming those old t-shirts that need a new life.  If that doesn’t inspire you, then make that t-shirt yarn and come on Saturday morning where she gets you started on a knitted or crocheted rug from the yarn YOU MADE.  It’s the perfect green project.

Sunday, May 3, is Julia Gray’s Natural Dye Class.  You get to dye a skein of luscious alpaca/wool/silk single-ply yarn.  Plus, it’s supposed to be a gorgeous day - perfect for this activity!

Monday, May 4, we have a daytime Zentangle class.  Take a long lunch and fire up your creative juices.  Bring your homeschooler for an art credit.  We are also offering a nighttime class on Wednesday, May 6, if you can’t bug out of work for that long.  This is a great activity to do with friends.  It’s a good thing you get to take the pens home with you because I promise you will be hooked.

Thursday - BLOCK PRINTING!  Finally!  I have been so excited about this class that I’ve been playing by myself with carving tools and blocks.  Can’t wait to learn some proper techniques.  Iz and I have been printing cards and sending them to family members.  Handmade cards are the best!

Saturday, May 9, Sewing 101.  Come make a tote - along the way, you’ll learn some basic machine mechanics (bobbin winding, tension issues, and the all important right needle for the job).  Your tote will be the perfect blank canvas for block printing on fabric (here on June 7th) or for the really fun Sharpie/rubbing alcohol art.  Google it - it’s cool!

Just one more, I promise - give your mom (or yourself) the gift of attending Tiana Trost’s Resin Jewelry class for Mother’s Day on May 11.  Tiana is so talented and her jewelry is so beautiful - you will be so happy with your piece!
